In early 2011, at the Auto Show in Detroit, the company introduced a concept crossover MINI Paceman, representing a coupe based on the model Countryman. A few days later officials of the company announced that this car will be put into real series production. At one time there were rumors that the new product can go in the series under the name Countryman Coupe, but in the end it was decided to stay on the original version of the title. The world premiere of serial MINI Paceman will be held at the Paris Motor Show 2012.

Compared to the standard MINI Countryman, the new Paceman became 24 mm shorter and 31 mm lower (by more inclined truncated rear pillars and a sloping roof), and its ground clearance was reduced to 10 mm – up to 139 mm. Overall length of the new car model is 4109 mm, width – 1789 mm, height – 1530 mm. MINI Paceman Salon Stylists have designed the interior only for four people – the rear seat of the car offered exclusively separate seating. Trunk volume was reduced to from 350 to 330 liters, but with the rear seats folded down, its volume increases to 1080 liters. So in the end we can see that the car was tuned pretty much, though nothing is yet known about the engine and the power output of the new model.
