Unique McLaren X-1 Concept revealed in California

At the annual competition of automotive elegance that took place in Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California in 2012 the company showed a new futuristic concept car – great and mighty McLaren supercar X-1, built in one piece and for a special order of the customer, who decided to stay unrevealed.

The design and construction of the McLaren X-1 Concept took three years, and engaged in the process of a car design a number of graduates of the design center of McLaren – Hong Yeo and other assistants, who were inspired for the creation of the concept exterior design by a variety of classic models and vehicle, and also by the forms of a classical piano and even the eggplant. The basis of the car were formed from the McLaren MP4-12C chassis, the latter also let to the concept its great and powerful engine – 625-hp gasoline twin-turbo V8. But all body panels of the X-1 Concept made of carbon were created from scratch. The car also had to develop its own lighting equipment and rims. Overall length of the concept is 4658 mm, width (with mirrors) – 2097 mm. It is a 109 mm longer and 188 mm wider than the original MP4-12. The height (1199 mm) and weight (about 1400 kg) remained unchanged.
